My God is Faithful

Hi guys, it’s been awhile. A lot has happened in my life while I have been MIA. I have taken a lot of time debating if I would write again or if I would close the very short chapter of me having a blog. It seems as though it is not over. I just came out of my prayer closet having a full moment with the Lord about where I am in life. He reminded me of this blog and how it is a way for his glory to be shown. So here I go. Buckle up as I share part of my testimony of what has been going on while I’ve been gone.
It started in May of 2024. I got diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma. I had a spot on my back that had concern of cancer and fun fact, it was cancer. I had surgery removing it and while in surgery, they found it had spread to a lymph node under my arm so they removed that as well. A month after surgery, I started Immunotherapy which is a treatment that attacks the cancer cells and is supposed to help prevent cancer from coming back. Well another fun fact, I was allergic to the treatment haha! But we found a way that if we gave me enough medicine before the treatment, I would be able to withstand it. I was just incredibly tired during it and afterwards. It was in January of 2024 that my doctors finally cleared me and said I was cancer free! Praise God!!
My health was still cause of concern though. After months of treatment, I started having a lot of pain in my body.I visited multiple doctors and explained my history and either they brushed it off or just gave me some kind of diagnosis. It wasn't until after I finished treatment that they finally diagnosed me with Opdivo-induced arthritis which mimics rheumatoid arthritis. This was a whole new thing I was learning to live with because there were days I could barely move. Thankfully, I found a doctor who listened and cared and we have found ways to help this!
I am now living my life cancer free and moving freely with little to no pain. The only reason that I am here telling my story with a positive outlook on it is because my God is good. The day I received the phone call is a day I will remember forever. I called family, my best friend, and then ended up at my Mawmaw’s house who sat with me and prayed over me. When I got home, my aunt came and did the same. It was on that day I had to really decide that I was going to fully rely and trust in the Lord. And He has led me through every moment since on this journey.
One thing that I have come to realize is that I would not change a thing about what I have been through. Yes, I had moments of asking God the question “why me?” and begging him to take it away. I had moments where I felt so weak and discouraged that I wanted to give up. But looking back, in every moment, the Lord carried me. The past few years have been the hardest years of my life. But in those years, I have learned how to lean on the Lord in a way I have never had to before. I grew to know my Father as the one who heals because not only did he heal me physically, but he also healed parts in me that I had to face. I grew to know my God as a friend. When no one else understood how I felt, when I felt so alone because no one actually knew what I was going through, my God did and he would sit with me as I poured my heart out to Him. I grew to know my God as my God of promises. When my Mawmaw and I were talking, she said to me, “Kylee, I have peace about this. You’re going to be just fine.” and I knew that she received that from the Lord. It was confirmation because my sister had said the same thing. So I held onto the words that He spoke and I knew they would come to pass.
You see, my God is not just a God who rules over his people. He is a personable God who loved to deeply know His children and be active in their lives. He is the God that moves the mountain. He is the God that sits with you in pain and worry, He is El Roi, the God who sees. My God sat with me the day I got the phone call. He was with me the day of my surgery. He walked with me into every appointment, every treatment, every scan. He sat with me when I asked the question “why me.” He held me when I didn’t understand. He gave me joy in my trials.
I share all this because I know that there are people out there who need to hear my story. My story that tells of the goodness of God. I was wrapped up by family and friends during this time of my life. People who loved me, cared for me, prayed with me and over me, and sat with me just as my God did and does. He is faithful. He is good. He is kind. And He wants to be all that for you too.
Lord, right now I pray over those that may be hurting. Those that need to see your faithfulness in their life. Father, I ask that even now you are working all things for good in the lives of your people. I pray that you are showing up and doing what only you can do, Lord. Let faith rise up in your people. Let boldness to speak your word rise up in the hearts of those who love you. Let them sing of your goodness even when the waves come crashing down. Show us your face when we can’t see anything else, Lord. We love you. Amen
